I made up some story and want to write it as web fiction or web comic ,but the story is heavily inspired by lots of Pet Shop Boys' music videos and visual(like Nightlife era costume,I found it cool)
the story i would like to write has my original story as well,but like i said over,inspired a lot from Pet shop boys' videos and visuals
and those video are copyrighted,Is that means I can't write this story?or I can

really nonsense topic ,I know this is not good thing to ask,but when I asked Becker Brown Management by email,they said about contacting EMI Music

from what I can tell,people on the internet expecially on youtube seem to operate by one big rule when using copyrighted stuff. do it.... till they tell you to take it down. I've come across tons of people using copyrighted stuff on the internet,and I've yet to see anyone say they are getting sued as in a court action.
esspecially if its fan based and for free.

but try and get an answer from EMI just as a coutesy. also, take into an account I'm not a lawyer and dont know what I'm talking about legally.

I wouldn't worry about infringing copywright then. Look at My Robot Friend; they didn't sue him. Firth of Forth wrote a series of adventures based upon the Hardy Boys in which a synthpop duo suspiciously like PSB solved a variety of low-grade mysteries. Again they didn't initiate litigation although I slammed an injunction on the Nancy Drew character.
