Bubadubadubadubadubadum (All My Wasted Time) Release

#1 Post by York Minster »

It only has one verse really, and Neil's nonsense word is funny but doesn't go much beyond that. Chris's solo is weak. Yet, it certainly has a charm. Best kept as a demo or could it be brought out into the light of day with some touch-up?
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]

realistically I think they're done with it never to return to it no matter how many fans talk about it.
the only demo I've heard where I thought...hmmmm...now thats worth redoing and doing right was run girl run.

Actually short of clean the sound up a bit digitally there's not a lot could be done here, but would be fantastic as the lead track of a rarities box set. From the same era however the Two Divided By Zero demo has so much more going for it in the middle eight than the released version - would love to see that theme developed. As for totally unreleased demo Bounce could be developed futher IMO.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

I really like In the club or in the queue. Interesting I found a Brazilian page which lists lyrics from official releases and it has this: http://www.vagalume.com.br/pet-shop-boy ... queue.html

Well, they DID release Run Girl Run in two versions on CD, if only at Closer To Heaven shows. Quite rare that.

In 2009 I asked Neil in St. Petersburg about this song and I said that I really liked that. He said - NO, it will never be released!
it seems he doesn't really like it... Because his reaction was very aggressive.

I think it has more value being a mind-tickling ghost of a b-side from the 80's than being a 2012 studio track. The second unused Bond -theme however.. now there's a great pop track hidden in there!

I think the PSB get irritated by this sort of constant talk about long ago demos and songs.
to them, possibly it reinforces that so many fans....and them by default of the fans views... are trapped in the past thats long dead.

I think a big fear of any group is the sense they have become just a nostagic act. the sense the fans think the new stuff sucks and the old stuff was genuis.

He probably thought you were a Russian bootlegger, with plans for an exclusive eBay release. 8)

I think you're correct, that seems to be Neil's attitude. But lets face it, in America, they are an 80s act. How many people own Discography, love it, but nothing else? Quite a few. They should be more thankful, both for the quality of their early work, and that there is so much of it. Thomas Dolby performs She Blinded Me With Science and says the song has treated him well. In his case, that song overshadows much other significant work, and diverse work. IF he can be thankful, so can the boys, that we give a sh@t about their early crappy demos. Really I think Neil is just embarrassed more than anything and would have rather these not seen the light of day.

Yep... I think that's the most likely circumstance. With the exception of some shoddy remixes along the way, they've always had a very strong sense of quality control about their work. For a low-fi, early (and somewhat embarrassing) demo to be "out there" for every man and his dog to download or watch on Youtube could easily be perceived as a weakness to the PSB brand/image/reputation... whatever you want to call it - that intangible thing that is the "Pet Shop Boys", over and above Neil & Chris themselves.

I think it's not really good business))) It's better to sell IPhones and IPads than PSB bootlegs on Ebay. And I will never do it...
4 days ago I bought in Brussels Very/Relentless for 20 Euro!!!! It was almost new! I asked a seller why he sells this for only 20 Euro, he said - everything is changing. I have Relentless, but I decided to give it to my friend who always dreamed about it. CD era is finished.
B-sides, demos, promos... Everything is downloading, nobody cares about CD and vinyl.

Also I tried to find Format in Bruges and Brussels but found only second hand for 11 Euro, but I wanted new one for me and my friend.

I think it's a good song, much better than most of today's crap playing at the radios.
