Problems ripping CDS / CDM from the WEA label

It seems I have a problem playing/ripping some of my CDS / CDM collection on my computer. As the topic title already shows, it's only with CDS / CDM from the WEA label. The thing is, they all sound distorted, but when played on my regular CD player, they all sound fine. There's no fysical damage. Am I the only one? Is there a solution?

My WEA copy of the Sisters of Mercy "First Last and Always" is copy protected. You can try either:
1. Putting a small piece of Scotch tape on the absolute outer edge of the data side if the disc. This will often defeat the data protection encoding on the disc.
2. Using a drive on a friend's Apple computer as Apple drives don't recognize copy protection.

I use Audiograbber SE for MP3 conversion and it couldn't give a rats about copy protection.

Thanks for your responses, I didn't know they put copy protection on CD Singles and CD Maxi's. But I don't think that's the issue with my CD's, as they sound distorted when I just play them and this is not the case with other CD's which actually have the copy protection label on them.
