Everyone thought he chucked it in. Everyone thought he earned his retirement. Every new fan like me thought they'd never see or hear anything new again, but times have changed.

David Bowie is back where he belongs!



Today a new song has been released called Where Are We Now? on iTunes in 119 countries and a new 14-track album called The Next Day is set for release in March available for pre-order now.

An interesting 66th birthday it is.

Also that above might not be the album cover, although on iTunes its the "Heroes" cover with a big white box in the middle with The Next Day written on it, but does either remind you of anything?

I must admit I am underwhelmed by the first single, this isn't going to be an experimental affair like "Outside" is it? Short of something brilliantly weird, a high-quality rocker like "Heathen" would be enjoyable; Hoping we don't get another "Reality" turd.

I'm hoping its not another 'Hours...'. If the first single represents the tone of the album, I think we're in for a depressing time. I previously had concerns that PSB's Elysium was going to be rather sombre after hearing Invisible. Those expectations have been topped by Where Are We Know?. PSB have proved me wrong though so I have my fingers crossed it'll be the same for Bowie's latest.

I await the album track snippets. Simply can't abstain from those. I've been a fan of Bowie since 2004 (been a Pethead slightly longer), so I was a little too late for the hype of new albums and especially live performances, after Bowie's health problems. Now this album comes out of nowhere I've never been so hyped for an artist so quickly. How did they do it? No leaks. No rumours. Even not so long ago the Daily Mail gave the impression he was happily retired.

I reckon this song is a top 10 for sure. Its currently number 1 in the iTunes chart.

It's one of greatest surprises in music so far. But I really hate the actual artwork, looks like they did it on paint. That one you posted is much better! And I also hate the mini Bowie and woman in the video. It freaks me up.

Tony Visconti said elsewhere that the album is very rocky and that he was surprised that David chose this track as the comeback single.

That's good, but what isn't is the retarded rules of the chart. There's rumours going around that its not chart eligable. I don't know why. Its a single track, being sold on iTunes for 99p. It came out on Tuesday. What's the problem? And its not like its been given away free on album pre-orders. Says on the album page in iTunes when you pre-order you get charged for that one song now, and get charged seperately for the rest of the album when its released.

This is more of a joke than PSB's situation.

EDIT: It's just been confirmed that it is indeed chart-ineligable, because its tied to a pre-order of a new album. So in other words, Bowie's singles chart career has taken a nosedive to rock-bottom in an instant. Only within a space of a few days of PSB's charts failure. When the album comes out, any new single without bonus content will fail because everyone will have it already.

It is but only those units sold that were paid for and not the ones downloaded if you pre-ordered the album. ITunes has to sort out what was what.
