I like the DM-DM detail! Album cover is pretty good. But they haven't stopped with the uninspired song titles...'Slow', 'Alone, 'Broken'...But the winner is 'Goodbye'...

I don't have high hopes. Flood mixing this album won't make a bit of difference, if he produced it that would be another matter, or if it was revealed Alan Wilder was involved in the recording which has been the rumor.

Re: Depeche Mode - Delta Machine
The omens are not good. Hillier is still at the helm (he did a good job with Playing The Angel though), the taster track was a bit of a mess, the song titles are either utterly uninspired (Angel, Heaven, Alone, Broken, Always) or like variations of previous DM tracks (Welcome To My World, Soothe My Soul, The Child Inside, My Little Universe) and 13 tracks implies that this is another bloated DM album.
But I'm not giving up entirely yet. DM bounced back from Exciter with PTA, so I hope they have again pulled up their socks after the lazu and complacent Sounds Of The Universe. They must realize how severely lacking that album was in every respect.

I agree with Eldritch, only every other post Alan Wilder DM album has been good notably Ultra and Playing the Angel. This new one could easily go either way.

I just realized that the album cover is a view from their studio. You can watch it in the Studio Collage video.

Actually I don't think that Alan Wilder could push DM any further any more. His last album subHuman (2007) was almost unlistanable and his In Chains remix from last year showed that he hasn't advanced a bit from Songs Of Faith And Devotion. He seems to have lost interest in what's been happening in the world of electronic music during the last two decades.

Re: Depeche Mode - Delta Machine
My hypothesis is that the members of DM are less than the sum of their collective parts. During DM's artist height Alan's solo albums were unlistenable and basically nothing has changed for him post DM. But when you put him in the same control room as Martin it's magic! I'm sure these guys couldn't bang-out another Black Celebration these days, but I'm positive adding Alan to the mix would elevate the porridge DM having been feeding us into a tasty stew.

Sometimes I think DM fans should be banned from the Internet until a year or so after their albums are released and they've managed to calm down a bit.

Well, if it's solid record I'll be the first to say so, Ultra and Playing the Angel were quite excellent efforts.

New single:

Seems like an unusual choice for lead single. I can't say I like it much after a couple of listens but maybe it's a grower.

Woah, what's up with Heaven...? How can that be the lead single? It's not up to Wrong, which was an excellent lead single.
