ARTPOP

#1 Post by PSBForTheMasses »

Lady Gaga's new album is on the way towards its release and the first single APPLAUSE was posted yesterday and it attracted more than 2 million views in one single day. It is already number one in many countries at iTunes but I find it quiet forced and a rewrite of poker face combined with Bad Romance. But it is, of course, ways better her terrible last album and singles. Nevertheless I cannot escape the feeling that if PSB wrote that song, it would be a nice B side. Then how come this kind of songs sell that many? How come PSB do not sell while their music is much superior to this?

Will this title help PSB? Will little monsters discover the beauty of PSB?:)

Little monsters are fighting to extremes to make Applause beat Kate Perry's ROAR.

i listened to it whilst browsing on my so called 'Smart' TV, although lets face it the tv cannot blamed for the providers output. It starts off well and then just descends into fantastically generic chart fodder, albeit well produced. Certainly it is no "Happy I could die"
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

Flaffer, I love "So Happy I Could Die" an awful lot. Possibly my favorite Gaga song.

I haven't really absorbed "Applause" yet, so no comment. But I'd be happy if Gaga did something new, or got back to basics. So we can forget the entirety of "Born This Way" which imho was such shit.

It is a wonderful track, in a PSB style on the surface it seems quite positive but there is an undecurrent of sadness and bad times coming. Im sure I read somewhere it is about alcoholism.

Because it's not just the music that sells, but the whole phenomenon. Gaga has become a huge phenomenon for young people. PSB music is soooo great but people (or the media) don't see through that "they're old" and "they're an 80's band".

Just my thoughts, that is.

Definitely a sadness there. Intriguing sexual mixing- "I love that lavender blonde" (which oddly in concert became, "I am that lavender blonde", erasing that ambiguity). The song is "ironic" in the way people usually ascribe to PSB. No, she's not happy in the club with a bottle of red wine. No, she's not having a good time. There's a real melancholy to it. Perhaps even a bit of sarcasm: "So happy I could die" is an overstatement the mood of the song does not bear out. Still, it's a very fine song, one of my favorites of hers. But it's definitely an unhappy one.

It's definitely a lyrical evolution for her. It has layers! But it is musically generic...And no Bad Romance. TFM is her best thing yet.

It's tired and dull. Be honest.

Ï like it quite a lot, but I do think it is very much 2009. She needs to move on to stay relevant.
