Greendrake - I know the answer to this! - When we originally ordered them from BFI they kept some back in case any one had problems with them. My first DVD's were dreadful so, I said in an e-mail to them that I know they couldn't do anything as they have sold out but, my DVDs were shocking etc.. They said they kept some back and I was the only one who had problems. I had to wait a while to receive the new DVD's as they could not go in their offices as they were closed to Covid. They were helpful people.

Apparently if you bought from their shop your details (passwords, username, payment details) could be at risk.

Yeah, and me - Silver Age, it's less important that you change your BFI password than that you change any other passwords you've set for other sites that are the same. For instance, all someone with your BFI login can really do is buy a few films, but if you use the same email and password combo for your PayPal, say, then someone might be able to access that just by entering the same details there.

Separately, this email reminded me that the Blu-ray runs one frame per second too slowly - watched it again last night and it's really annoying!

Yes, it's really annoying - all the songs sound slow and flat. Someone on this forum posted a very complicated way of ripping the Blu-ray, speeding up the audio and changing the frame rate to match. I followed those instructions and have a perfect file of it now, which means I never watch the actual disc the BFI released. But it was a lot of hassle. Very poor quality control from the BFI, but I'm so glad I corrected it.

it's not so much a matter of quality control but rather a choice of preservation. Do you want to digitize all the frames but have a slightly slower version of the movie or do you skip one frame to have it at the right speed? I would choose the first one, preservation is more important for me.
And as you said, you can rip the disc and fix it. This makes the disc the main source.
