Has anyone else been listening Romy's solo debut, Mid Air? After deeply enjoying it a few times, I was amused to read up on its background and find Stuart Price all over it, as a producer and writer.
Her other main collaborator is Fred again.., who I have less of a handle on. I've played only his Brian Eno collaboration a couple of times. But Mid Air seems destined to crown my 2023 best of list. For pure euphoria, hopping over even Everything But The Girl, and Sabina Sciubba.
If you haven't played it yet, I recommend. One of many standout tracks is "Enjoy your life", in which I picked up a reminder of "Vocal" yesterday.
(Romy, of course, is from The xx. I'd still love to hear PSB cover their "Performance" from I See You.)

The best debut album in 2023, I guess. It has such a nice vibe to it! I can't wait to see her live for the club tour – tickets are booked.
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Fantastic record, I'm overjoyed it happened, and Stuart again confirmed dance music is in his blood. Also, quite an unexpected side to Romy, who always seemed like a shy and private person. Sort of like Neil!

Love this record! I have been paying Strong (the Fred Again collaboration) for months. I bought the album on vinyl too and it has a lovely insert with lyrics. A very 'strong' debut.
The song Did I is incredible too, builds and builds into something so beautiful.

Glad to know other PSB fans are enjoying this record along with me!
Yeah, @domino, I guess this continues a great tradition of "debuts" by known artists, like Stevie Nicks, Annie Lennox, Björk . . . The live show will be such a good time!
Have you seen her Instagram reels, @Future Lover? Looks like she's having the nicest time with friends.
"Strong" already has 26m+ listens! That's amazing to me. Yes, @Synthrobot! And I love how "Twice" and "Did I" are built as kind of a diptych. "Twice" closes with that coda of beautiful synth chords that I wish would stay longer, and then they reappear in the background buildup of "Did I". It's a short album but a lot happens on it!
(The first time I heard those chords I felt like was the PSB moment on the album. Before I knew Price had anything to do with it.)
(Noticing "Twice" has that "Vocal" thing going on it, too.)
Keep enjoying!
