Re: TR/ST featuring Jake Shears - Being Boring
Well, that was an emotional listening experience. I've loved PSB since Behavior, when I lived in NYC. And I've loved TR/ST since his first album (when he was still simply "Trust") in 2012. He's a top favorite of mine among the younger field. Hearing his voice, singing those so familiar lines, from a song steeped in nostalgia anyway, is quite a potent time capsule. A song about a life lived across the decades, extended now and folded into these newest decades.
I'm a less close follower of Jake Shears and Scissor Sisters, but he does a nice job of obliquely evoking Neil's voice on the chorus. His association with NYC seals in even more meaningfulness for me. Nice knowing he's a Friend of Neil, too. Hope PSB give the track a plug. A TR/ST mix of a PSB track would be amazing, too.
As I typed this, I got the notification that the EP is on Bandcamp now. Was hoping to see that! Only the single was listed there earlier this morning
Hope others enjoy the music. Opener and closer are classic TR/ST. Second track is surprisingly poppy. Couple of other nice tracks, too.

I am not a fan of this version. It lacks the subtle sound layers this song needs, imho. But I'm always a fan of people covering other songs and make it their own. Something Pet Shop Boys are very good at. And reading above post, TR/ST does a good job too for people who like their music.
That is what I like about covers. Their interpretation can make one song totally different. Heck, I made a hobby in collecting covers of the song Popcorn

Don't like it-
It's a cover only for teenagers to listen-and-86.

Love it! It should get an upbeat extended remix. I'd never heard of Tr/St before. I'll have to check out his other stuff.

Greetings,
Not good.
TR/ST cannot sing, and Jake Shears only sounds any good when he's trying to sound like Jake Shears.
Still, covers of Being Boring do serve one good purpose - to show how magnificent the original is!
Retro.

Never heard of TR/ST but this cover sounds as if someone is reading the lines for the first time from a piece of paper… no emotion at all
The music is okay-ish but nothing special. Love Jake Shears/SS but here his vocals indeed do not sound like him.
Not too big a fan of the original either, and this version does nothing to me.

I quite like it, though it doesn't come close to the magnificence of the original. And it's a hell of a lot better than Sleaford Mods' cover of West End Girls.
