Such a great interview. They both sound so relaxed.

Neil says that if you like Miracles you’ll like Nonetheless.

Feel was written at the same time as Miracles when they were trying to write a hit for PopArt
So Feel probably uptempo!

That was great to listen to but too short, they were just getting into the swing of it! Rylan clearly a huge fan. Lucky boy.

There's a cassette of the stuff they played in August 1981 after just meeting. And Neil has the cassette. Wow.

Yeah, by the time you've hit all the usual career touchpoints the interview is over. It was fun though but I hope the Imagine documentary forgoes some of the usual exposition.GlasgowGirl wrote: Sat 06 Apr 2024, 4:07 pm That was great to listen to but too short, they were just getting into the swing of it! It's like watching the origin story again every time they make a new Spider-Man movie...

Hate it when the host starts praising the guests by telling how much he/she love their music etc. I want to get some info from the questions. But anyway. I think we got some more info to flesh out "the origin story".Gabby wrote: Sat 06 Apr 2024, 6:45 pmYeah, by the time you've hit all the usual career touchpoints the interview is over. 1. Chris coming in while Neil waiting, i e not being in the store beforehand
2. Going to the pub for a beer
3. Immediately to Neil's apartment
4. Playing together and trying to write a song.
5. A recording of this first jam session exists.
6. Feel written in 2003/4
7. The slight notion Nonetheless will be a new Elysium.

It was a fun listen, lots of laughter, ending up in Benidorm with Sticky Vicky and the nepo baby daughter. Good song choices. Yes, it is slightly tedious that interviewers always start by asking about the "origins", but impressive how Neil always makes it sound like it's the first time they're being asked and the first time they're revealing the story. But clearly it's useful in terms of reaching new audiences. Looking forward to Nonetheless.

About point #7, I disagree. Elysium is more about death and one's mortality, especially if we consider it was heavily inspired by his parents' passing + that's the literal definition of the word "elysium".telys wrote: Sat 06 Apr 2024, 7:09 pmHate it when the host starts praising the guests by telling how much he/she love their music etc. I want to get some info from the questions. Personal opinions aside, Neil compared the album to Miracles and said it was romantic, which builds into the short interview they did for a Brazilian newspaper at the start of this week: "Making this album was so pleasurable that it can't even be considered work... We've never made a record in such a light and pleasant way."
