What happened to Murray Lachlan Young was on the Somewhere Tour. He had a book out and a cd.

Think EMI / Parlo (whichever) dropped him a few years back.

Personally, I thought he was crap. Funniest part was when he started 'Half man...' and someone in the audience shouted '...half biscuit!'.

That was the last night, BTW.

I was at that show too. I loved the 'roadie' that he had on stage with him.

Murray Lachlan-Young was a poet who was briefly fashionable in the late 90s. He rather bizarrely ended up signed to EMI. I think Mitch Clark signed him. All I remember is "Everyone's Taking Cocaine" or whatever it was called.

I remember him. Isn't there a picture of him in 'Literally' somewhere or am I thinking of the Savoy programme! I'll try and dig it out.

I saw the Somewhere show a few times, and MLY died each time. He was nowhere near as entertaining as ' The Shouty Men ' - does anyone know who they were?

They were Finnish, I think. I don't know what they were called though. They only did the one night at the Savoy, I believe. I was there that night too, by the way.

I thought Murray Lance Young was a bit lame too, but I was only 13 at the time and not really into poetry! I remember he recited a poem called 'Art' accompanied by a gorgeous female cellist. It was about a baby called Art being born. His roadie was funny, a big black man in a suit with shorts instead of trousers.

I haven't heard anything of Murray since then.

thanks for the link to 'The Shouty Men' - they were totally mental, and consequently the perfect warm up for the boys. MLY was trying too hard to be arch and clever, and as a result failed on both counts. by the way, did anyone buy any of the £60 windcheaters with the psb logo that they were selling on the merchandise stall?

I did. What a wonderful and overpriced garment it was, too. I've lost it, wich is a huge shame.

I did but i put it one once and almost died of heat exhaustion! Its the warmest summer jacket you'll ever wear!!!

Oh good, I'm not the only one who was totally disinterested in MLY. What was the point of that eh? I suppose it was PSB doing something different, which is great, but not this time.
