No PSB in Canada Petition!

This "petition" was started by Lydia over at the tennant-lowe forum. She is from Spain and I stated there that I found it a bit disingenuous that she wants to campaign for animal rights in Canada when her own country has a tradition of bloodsport: bullfighting.
I've nothing against the animal rights movement, but the goal of Morrissey's boycott was to raise awareness of this issue and then have people actually do something about it. If all they are going to do is try and get two more celebrities to "raise awareness" then they've missed the point entirely.
This is really stupid. However, in this case, I'm NOT with stupid.

a long time ago me and my girlfriend went to montreal, they had some big festival she wanted to go to called the expo or something.
we ran out of gas on a long stretch of road on the way back and we had to sleep in the car.
she was worried that some crazy person would come up to the car and kill us while we were sleeping. I told her not to worry we werent in the US anymore.

So what if Lydia is from Spain, does it take away her right to express concern over Canadian seals? Besides, since you are registered there, you could be aware that she raised the issue of cruel bullfighting as well and be more honest with overall judgement. You don't want to be with stupid, fine. But remember who is really stupid and who is different kind of smart.etienne wrote:This "petition" was started by Lydia over at the tennant-lowe forum. When I see people being upset about the possibilty that some Canadian fans might be affected, or others, talking about cows and bringing up ridiculous arguments against that petition, I am happy to have given my signature there.

I agree. They're not that big in North America to influence on the government and even if they were I don't think it could actually help. The only ones who will suffer from this are Canadian fans who aren't responsible for their government's decisions. The only thing they could do is make a statement during the concert. Though I remember Neil during his Live 8 interview said that he doesn't think that any of these actions of musicians who're involved in politics can really be useful.Ronald42 wrote:They should go over and play a hell of a concert. Somewhere in the middle Neill must stop the music and make a statement about it.
Staying away doesn't solve a thing, that won't make the news ask Bono he knows what to do.
Musicians can bring someone's attention to the problem, lay some light on it but not make it be solved. If people care about the issue, feel strongly about it, then it makes sense.

But I think if anybody started a petition to have PSB not tour Spain due to said bullfighting, Lydia would go apeshit on them and threaten to kill everyone in their family.the last call wrote:So what if Lydia is from Spain, does it take away her right to express concern over Canadian seals? In short- Lydia is a lunatic and shouldn't be taken seriously. People should be ashamed that they do take her seriously.

I couldn't agree with you more Kirky....If her forum is anything to go by, plus her language to add to that, i find her totally repulsive.
You don't have to be beautiful, but it helps!

Well, let's not lose the focus here, but I personally find your comments about Lydia inexcusably harsh and offensive.Kirk Mack wrote:But I think if anybody started a petition to have PSB not tour Spain due to said bullfighting, Lydia would go apeshit on them and threaten to kill everyone in their family.the last call wrote:So what if Lydia is from Spain, does it take away her right to express concern over Canadian seals? Before you fall all over yourself trying to defend her, keep in mind that she not only threatened the lives of people on this board BEFORE she was banned, but she did it even more so AFTER she was banned. She even threatened people at the Zeus board. And lest we not forget when she threatened to bash Neil's head in with a brick if he didn't talk to her when she was visiting London or something like that.the last call wrote:Well, let's not lose the focus here, but I personally find your comments about Lydia inexcusably harsh and offensive.Kirk Mack wrote:But I think if anybody started a petition to have PSB not tour Spain due to said bullfighting, Lydia would go apeshit on them and threaten to kill everyone in their family.the last call wrote: So what if Lydia is from Spain, does it take away her right to express concern over Canadian seals? Call my comments harsh and offensive, but get your facts straight about her before backing her up. If a more reputable source proposed this, I might give it the time of day, but, frankly, Lydia is not.
