On the whole I think that Pet Shop Boys´ new album is a disappointment. But it also includes one of the best songs they´ve ever done, Integral, which is like a dark, forceful version of It´s a sin. And the ironic police state-lyrics should turn it into an anthem for civil libertarians and pro-privacy advocates everywhere:

Well, the song is a satire, with Neil taking the role of a fascist bureaucrat advocating id cards. So although I agree with you about the lazy way of labeling PSB as constant ironymongers, in this case the writer does have a point. In real life Neil is opposed to the id cards, therefore he doesn't mean what he says in the song - and that's one form of irony.Flaffer wrote:why are the lyrics ironic, please please please can we have a review that does mention 'campness,their sexuality,irony' and every other lazy cliche
