6 months on - how do you rank Fundamental?
Enough time has passed to make a proper judgement on Fundamental's merits as compared to previous PSB albums. With Release, many people ranked it reasonably high at first, but changed their minds substantially after the first romance was over.
So how do you rank Fundamental among the PSB albums now?
Mine would be (proper albums only, and not including b-sides and extra discs):
1. Very
2. Behaviour
3. Bilingual
4. Introspective
5. Actually
6. Relentless
7. Please
8. Nightlife
9. Fundamental
10. Release
But then again, I was never too impressed with Fundamental to begin with. Too many boring ballads and all in all only a few songs really worth listening to. The cream of the crop, of course, relegated to b-sides and bonus CD's.
So for me, I think Fundamental has slipped one place at most, I might have put it ahead of Nightlife earlier, but it isn't even close to that now.
Sorry if there's already been a recent one of these.

It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.

Fundamental is the best and I don't have to hear the earlier onces anymore, besides the Kevorkian mix of Rent.
And Concrete of course.
And Concrete of course.

Currently, Fundamental comes next to Behaviour, Bilingual and Introspective - for me, it's number 4th. Still play almost every evening and still enjoy!
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
