Ray wrote:Drunk was also a good third single, it's just that I prefer I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more as a track. And if PSB went with their original plan of releasing Crappiness as the lead single off Nightlife, I wouldn't have bought it because I would be horrified there might be at least one more track as bad as that on it.
Before Nightlife was released, I read the very bitter album review by Mike Fiorenza, who slagged off the entire album, and especially Happiness Is An Option and Boy Strange. When I heard I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more for the first time, I was extremely disappointed. At that time, I found it by far the weakest PSB single ever (I never experienced such a feeling again, until I heard the radio edit of Numb).

So, after hearing I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more, I was genuinely worried that Nightlife wouldn't be a very good album. I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally heard it. And I immediately loved Happiness Is An Option and Boy Strange.

We will never know if an other lead single for Nightlife would have done better, but facts are facts: no other PSB lead single charted as low as #15. Even your favourite Home And Dryieieieieie did better.

Yes, absolutely  I always thought it would be a perfect double A-side with Fugitive.

I fully respect your choices and taste, but isn't it a bit weird to release a single with the same title as the PREVIOUS album? If the boys wanted "Nightlife" to be a single, I'm sure they would have put it on Nightlife

Oooh, Luna Park might have been a good single, too. (I put in Stupid because I couldn't really think of anything else.)

I know, and of course it wouldn't be sensible like that. I should have written that my list is only my own personal favourites. If I started to think which songs would be better as singles for general public, I would change quite a few songs there, including "Nightlife".

I especially found "The Ghost Of Myself" an interesting choice. Actually it HAS hit potential. I also love its production.

:D Yes, that song is stuck in my brain and I almost get an obsession to listen to it. Hit songs are usually like that, aren't they? Neil just keeps repeating the same lyrics but that's very effective.
