Before Nightlife was released, I read the very bitter album review by Mike Fiorenza, who slagged off the entire album, and especially Happiness Is An Option and Boy Strange. When I heard I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more for the first time, I was extremely disappointed. At that time, I found it by far the weakest PSB single ever (I never experienced such a feeling again, until I heard the radio edit of Numb).Ray wrote:Drunk was also a good third single, it's just that I prefer I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more as a track. And if PSB went with their original plan of releasing Crappiness as the lead single off Nightlife, I wouldn't have bought it because I would be horrified there might be at least one more track as bad as that on it.
So, after hearing I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more, I was genuinely worried that Nightlife wouldn't be a very good album. I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally heard it. And I immediately loved Happiness Is An Option and Boy Strange.
We will never know if an other lead single for Nightlife would have done better, but facts are facts: no other PSB lead single charted as low as #15. Even your favourite Home And Dryieieieieie did better.
