A good post but i've got to pick you up on a few things ;-

Their time has gone, simple as that, I don't think it makes any difference whatsoever what kind records they produce, they are an eighties band simple as that.

I think you are wrong here. If they produced some good songs and a good album, they would have some relative sucess with it. It would do much better than the last album did.

Yes the PSB are just hanging in their by their teeth but for how much longer who knows. If they didn't have all the promotion surrounding the Brit award then it's fair to say that "Yes" would have done much less well than it did, without doubt and I'm sure the duet with Gaga and Flowers helped them too.

Of course it helped but i'd say it was more down to helping PopArt than Yes. Yes was released 4 or 5 months later and performed similar to Fundamental. I suspect their next album will do likewise.

Christmas got to number 40 for Christ's sake!

It sold more copies than Did you see me coming?? It was a fiver and was released at the busiest time of the year. It was competing with 29 pence singles and the lead single off Christmas was a 12 year old fanclub song. Any other time of the year and it would have probably been top 20. Lets get a bit of perspective here. Three top 40 singles in 6 months is pretty good. Especially as most don't get into the top 40 with 1st or 2nd singles.

That's the thing here Undertaker, next time it will be that three top60 singles is good then top75 etc. It's basically only the fanbase buying the singles anyway and in the download chart alone they are performing very badly. I imagine the next Erasure single will be around 40 if it's released on cd single, if not then it will not chart at all obviously, and a PSB download only single wouldn't do that much better. Doesn't mean the song is necessarily bad though, does it?

Yeah, i agree with that. However, Love etc did pretty well in the download chart, although that was the exception to the rule but Love etc was one of the best singles they had released for about 15 years. So a top pop song can still have some sucess.

I think the Brits award had a very limited effect on Yes sales, it followed the same pattern as the last few PSB releases. People have short memeories, the Brits was all but forgotten by the time album was released. Media coverage was about on a par with that for Fundamental. Appearing with bright young stars also seems to have no effect on sales - see also New Orders fans confidently predicting a high chart placing for Jetstream due to Ana Matronic, Eltons Johns desire to ingratiate and appear with almost every hot new thing, does he sell more records than he used to ?

The problem with Erasure is that their fanbase is completely blinkered and thinks that everything they do is *amazing*. It's why the Erasure forum is full of whiney big girls' blouses who complain if anybody criticises them. s t e p h a n o/pulse is scared to post on this forum these days because he knows he can't pull the 'I've been posting about leotards for sixteen years' line and people will actually criticise Erasure to his (online) face whilst he can't whine to teacher/lawyer/European Court of Human Rights about it.

To be honest, he still hasn't gotten over PSB getting the Brit and with the fact PopArt re-entered higher than Pop 2, was the final straw, especially with the wind-ups. He cannot let it go. It wasn't just him, a lot of them started to lose it. Criticising PSB at every corner, starting petitions etc to get justice for Erasure. Then that stephano character and another guy have started threatening to sue people . FFS, it's only a forum lol. Now there are posts on there with the most desperate arse licking ever to save their skin. It's like one of those 'Your Song' stories that Simon Bates used to do
