Not limited to 500 copies, it will only be made available once there has been at least 500 copies pre ordered and with over 250 orders already I'd say that was a sure thing. It will be the Album on Violet vinyl with a second disk of remixes of Elevation and Reason (which it seems will possibly be the next single) on white vinyl. I have ordered this which will be a nice item.

Not bad for £25 I suppose. Let's hope they don't make a fancy "ebay collectors seller version" of this album, put it in a fancy plastic case and ask for £300. Not meaning to have a go at PSB there but it has to be said that the vinyl boxsets were a monumental rip off, although they sold out of course which they will no doubt use to justify them. Oh and I do have the Yes one by the way......

Anyway, at least Erasure listened to their fans whom have asked for this. That I really do like.

So how does this work then, will they make as many copies that are ordered within the time limit?

Why would you buy one then? I mean what the actual f***?

If something was a rip off, why would you pay it? lol

Also, is the said rip off still holding it's value? Would you get £300 for it if you sold it?

I agree, I was stupid, I just think that at the end of the day it is a rip off, I am happy for you to disagree but it's how I feel. Don't get me wrong it is a nice product but £300? And it shouldn't be about its value when sold at the end of the day, PSB stuff shouldn't be about ebay and shit.

Anyway, at least Erasure are doing stuff the fans appreciate. I like that a lot.

Not entirely sure. They will probably make as many as they need to to fulfil preorders plus extra up to a number that makes sense for a pressing plant to manufacture.

This kind of crowd funded thing makes sense in today's environment though. The time limit is about seeing if there is enough demand to make at least 500 copies, presumably to cover the costs of manufacturing the product in its entirety.

That's what the email newsletter implies at any rate. Sensible idea.

Already got 500 plus orders within days of this going online! Great idea and will be the first Erasure vinyl LP for a while I think (since Other people's songs in 2003).

Can't wait!

I thought it would have been top 10 actually with sales being low. Especially as it sounds like the most Erasureish album for a long time from what I've heard.

It would have been nice to see an old act back in the top ten.

Poor promotion again? The producer wouldn't have been cheap. Still think they could do much better in terms of artwork.

I didn't even think about the charts to be honest and 20 is OK for them in this day and age.

Not sure about the current chart rules as they seem to change all the time but I'd guess that the Deluxe box set is chart eligable with it being 3 CDs and including live songs and remixes but I may be wrong. Also it included the album to download of course. Then there is the album on vinyl which is not being released for a while which would have helped sales. Anyway, that is not important these days with the charts full of absolute tripe, a lot of which I have not even heard of if I'm honest.

Clearly just the fanbase buying now with sales like that. Especially when the vinyl edition can sell over 500 copies in 24 hours. Still, enough for them to continue doing what they do, tour and make decent music. In fact they have to do more to make money now so if anything it's better for the fans!

It's funny isn't it that they can sell loads of concert tickets but not albums! Probably shows that a lot of people download illegally now! If you are going to a concert, wouldn't you want a copy of the bands latest album? Just a thought!

I think quite a few that goes to a Erasure concert these days are just interested in the older songs, a nostalgia trip to the 80's if you will, probably the same with Pet shop Boys to some extent.

They're also fascinated by pughie.
