Not true..there was loads of filtered disco around in 1999..thats why they used that technique on New York city boy.
Oh man youre right....I completely forgot that era :wall:

Yeah, but its one thing to reference an era's music by making a nod to it via an overall sound... its another thing to pretty much on top of that, to almost duplicate a whole segment. the verse parts are different musically, but the chorus of
New York City Nights and New York City Boy are pretty much the same.

I wonder how many people on this board became fans of PSB with the release of New York city boy (/Nightlife). Yes, it's true: New York city boy made me a fan. Aha.

I've created a Sptofy playlist with Leif's Garretts's New York City Nights as well as the fabulous ''Come Back'' by Carol Williams which thanks to geowayne I learned lends the introductory string line string line to New York city boy

Some other favourites in this list too...

It's like a young and blond Ben Stiller singing.

Leif Garrett is a few years younger than Neil and Chris. Neil might have had the tune to New York city boy already in the 70's before New York City Lights came out.

Leif starred in a couple of "great" westerns with together with Lee van Cleef. Here is one of them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God%27s_Gun

Kid Vengeance is another favourite of mine.

His life story is actually one of tragedy.

Movie and music star as a child, started taking drugs at the age of 14. Ending up almost killing himself in a violent car crash before he was 18. And then all that heroin and cocaine.

Awful...

Also he didn't really sing on all of his tracks!

Very similar but it happens a lot for them to hear a song and duplicate a part to create another one. It happens all the time i guess in the music industry.
