Re: New Album!
Don't forget 'Nude' the Emperor's New Clothes musical they have written which may get finished/released before the new album. Plus, news today that Dreamworld is being filmed so expect a Blu-Ray before Christmas I reckon.
The future is the present now. Music must be played.

Re: New Album!
There's a little tidbit about the new album in the interview I link in a separate thread: https://www.classicpopmag.com/2023/07/p ... iew-smash/
"The new record is very tuneful, less super-electronic sounding. Strings will be returning. It’s more autobiographical, looking back.”

I have no doubt we can wait for the return of the gothic sounds of Actually. Some music instruments of that era were used for this album and then it was recorded in Church Studios, funnily enough. A looking back like they say.TallThinMan wrote: Fri 07 Jul 2023, 6:17 pm "The new record is very tuneful, less super-electronic sounding. Strings will be returning. So it begs the question, what on earth do they have four whole months off for, and why can't they just bloody drop an album without a major PR campaign and such boringly long lead times? The difference is sales of 5000 versus 4,500

I mean in a way it's been pretty tame recently. A tour in other countries (no Australia visit). Some unreleased Super-era demos, only 1 worth listening to. A Greatest Hits with no new songs.
What's the last actual new thing we had? The debut of the Dreamworld tour, which was May 2022, 14 months ago. No they say we have to wait another several months for the next thing.
Why can't it be 1987, or 1990 like Nina says. Where's the big collab, the surprise project.
I know we've had the remixes recently, but honestly they have been pretty shocking.
I'm expecting to enjoy the lead up to the album. The teasers, the single(s), the interviews.
But I'm completely expecting something of substance before that happens.

Re: New Album!
Yes and in 1987 Neil was 33. He's 69 tomorrow so maybe they just want some time off after touring before starting a new album campaignNina wrote: Sat 08 Jul 2023, 10:28 pmFor people to realise it's not 1987.Nickname wrote: Sat 08 Jul 2023, 7:18 pmWhat's wrong with that?, it makes it more exciting. Re: New Album!
They've been touring in on off for a while so are definitely due a bit of time off so we shouldn't begrudge them it as mentioned Neil's 69 tomorrow and Chris is 63 so give them a much needed break, Neil and Chris still making music and hopefully another tour in the future and other projects on the go is good enough for me

Re: New Album!
If you write music, you need time. People refer to 1987, but they had years before their success to write material. Taking time off these days to recharge, look for new ideas and inspiration, and just find the fun in writing again is essential. The big delay between recording and releasing is baked into the system now (if you want to release on physical mediums… and let’s face it most PSB fans want a physical format in their hands on release day, we don’t want to wait months after the digital download comes out) then making sure some of that time is “downtime” would be wise for artists of any age.
