Two different shows they can offer, some speculation to take this further!

What made the "Savoy" show so great when performed at the Stockholm water festival in '97 was the minimalistic yet so effective light show. So genuinely Pet Shop Boys the whole experience. Madonna did a mini concert at the Roseland ballroom and it didn't look great because more is expected from her. Psb on the other hand can easily recreate like their typical album cover on stage, it's cheap and it makes them look right at home.

With such a concept, easy to rig up, there's no point in leaving it just at five nights.

I agree that the Stockholm concert was great! It was not the Savoy show though, the set list was quite different — singles only, no album tracks etc.

I agree that the Stockholm concert was great! It was not the Savoy show though, the set list was quite different — singles only, no album tracks etc.

Yeah, it was even better! Oh, what an evening it was, techno techno techno... They had the white cooler looking costumes and extra beam lights onstage, kept delivering an ecstatic moment after another. I never had such a natural high in my whole life - not before or after.

I tried to re-create that feel with my setlist idea in another topic, and I think I succeeded - I can't sit still! I hope they bring the roof down at the Electric Ballroom.

It' s a funny idea to change the setlist for each night. As far as I know them they won't do that. They will play every night the same setlist I guess.
I can also imagine a concert in Berlin one day but no obscure world tour. I' m planing to travel to London. I hope I can get tickets next week. My last London time was 1997 for two Savoy concerts ( and I was 1993 at the Equality show). Still remember these good times...

Weren’t there different set lists for different Somewhere shows? At least a couple of songs?

Not to the best of my knowledge, the Sam Taylor-Wood film and the songs were synced up duration wise.

At the Savoy I was the last two shows there. There was no setlist change. And I can' t remember they did this for the days before.
The only change thing I remember was the beginning of the dreamworld show: for the first few shows there were more videos between the songs or something like that.

I can' t imagine they program 25-30 tracks and change the set daily. That won' t happen....

Given what we know about the boys, this could indeed be a test run. They could hold another series of concerts in London in autumn or in a year's time. Moreover, taking Obscure to the stage won't stop them from continuing with Dreamworld. In my view, they'll just do both and perform Dreamworld for as long as they have bookings. However, I can't imagine them doing a proper tour with this. It'll work in Berlin, but other than that, I can't imagine where else they could take it. Even if Obscure doesn't include a proper stage design or setup, it'll need to be economically reasonable.

That's what I think, too. Small venues, limited number of runs just to sound the depth of the idea. But the fan response was highly positive; even those who will not be able to attend it (me included) find it a great and exciting idea (I am already happy for those lucky souls who will attend the concerts). So they may go on with it. In addition to Berlin, Spain, Brazil and some US and Scandinavian venues may be added. I guess they underestimate how much love there is for their output beyond imperial time tracks. And considering that they are now around 70 years old, this may be a great start to meet and say farewell to everyone in a big spirit of union and "thank you" on the part of core fans.

Ah ok, yes that makes sense. I got the impression a looong time ago that there were differences, like different set of encores on different dates, but it was probably just a dream.
