I think fans would prefer physical disc as people collect physical items. I hope we can get to see it in 4K as I imagine it looks spectacular. I went to 3 of the concerts of the Dreamworld tour and the staging was amazing.

It's a bit typical you can get Nonetheless on cassette but the latest technology not. If I were in charge I'd made sure all videos and concerts were shot on 35mm film just to secure the best quality. They love remastering the audio cd's over and over again, and they met at an electronics shop, right?

YouTube and Netflix will likely upgrade 4k streaming and improve the quality even further, don't think physical media holds the future.

Physical media is obviously here for the long haul due to rights issues, if nothing else. But I don't think you understand just how superior 4K discs are to 4K streaming at the moment - right now you're looking at something like literally 10x the data on the high end. That just isn't going to equalize any time soon, especially with data center prices skyrocketing thanks to AI.

Streaming should theoretically be able to reach the same levels.

Theoretically it could reach those levels today. However, there is no financial incentive for streamers to invest in the infrastructure to handle 10x data throughput. In fact, streaming has never matched physical media - even when Netflix moved to HD it was only streaming 720p to save on costs.

It's just not going reach parity any time soon, because the costs required are too high.

The good news for streamers is that most viewers don't care. Streaming quality is "good enough" in the same way Spotify sounds "good enough" for most people. It's the minority who really care about quality who will continue to prefer physical media, because the quality is so superior.

People are simply clueless. The MPEG-standard digital channels that appeared around the turn of the millennium were so bad that I stopped watching TV altogether for a decade. At the same time, flat-screen TVs were being sold by the billions. Most people don’t realise they’re still being cheated on quality—until the inevitable “make the most of your 4K TV” marketing campaign begins.

I'm hoping the Obscure concert gets filmed but I don't think it will. That's going to be something really special which I don't think they will ever do something like it again. Gutted I'm not able to go.

Essentially a higher resolution Blu-ray with HDR, which Blu-ray can’t support. I’m sure none of your friends have mentioned them, but I’m also sure there are a million other things your friends have never mentioned that are also readily available in shops and part of a market worth billions. It’s a weird thing to argue about, really. But not as weird as using AI to argue it…
