Heard “I Want a Dog” in a cafe the other day which was pretty random. Also heard “Love Etc” at Costa Coffee recently.

I wouldn’t have minded that! Best I could do today was West End girls in Marks and Sparks. (No, I didn’t steal any clothes!)tophalba33 wrote: Fri 26 Jun 2026, 11:25 pm Heard “I Want a Dog” in a cafe the other day which was pretty random. Also heard “Love Etc” at Costa Coffee recently.

A few years ago, in the streets of a small town in the center of France. It was during a music festival that happens there each summer. My sister, my small niece and I were wandering the crowded streets, and there were bands playing music everywhere
.
We stopped to listen to a brass band that played really groovy arrangements of pop hits. They were properly funky, with great brass and rythm section arrangements (They even had a drummer with a full kit and a percussionist)
They played songs like Get Lucky or Wanna Be Startin' Something, and it was perfect and happy and people were dancing and singing in the street (including us).
And then they launched into Go West.
And it was horrible.
They absolutely butchered this one. Oh dear.

Not a song, but I didn't want to create a whole new thread, so perhaps this can be extended to seeing PSB out of context also. Presumably due to the release of The Odyssey, my local indie cinema is showing Christopher Nolan's very first film, Following, made for a budget of around US$6000 in 1998. Watching the movie, who should I see...

The full movie (70 mins) is on YouTube.

I liked that movie a lot. Didn't notice PSB when I saw it...

At a funeral. Not as part of the service but whilst waiting for the procession to arrive It’s Alright came on the radio from a nearby office.

Not really an odd place but an odd song selection and circumstance… Yesterday I was wearing a PSB t-shirt and I was reading/relaxing at my favorite coffee spot in the NoHo neighborhood of NYC. A barista walked by me and asked about my shirt logo and I explained PSB. He said he’ll play a song by them and I was expecting one of the ‘usual’ ‘80s singles and all of a sudden I hear… DECIDE! That sure put a smile on my face!

Give that barista a pay rise! Extra for not picking West End girls!MikeyC wrote: Fri 07 Aug 2026, 8:08 pm Not really an odd place but an odd song selection and circumstance… Yesterday I was wearing a PSB t-shirt and I was reading/relaxing at my favorite coffee spot in the NoHo neighborhood of NYC. In the cricket pavilion last night and West End girls came on - though was the Sleaford Mods version, I did clock a few singing along.

Brilliant! That’s probably what every barista wants to yell at that one customer who’s holding up the line because they can’t work out if they want the oat milk cappuccino or the soy latte.MikeyC wrote: Fri 07 Aug 2026, 8:08 pm Not really an odd place but an odd song selection and circumstance… Yesterday I was wearing a PSB t-shirt and I was reading/relaxing at my favorite coffee spot in the NoHo neighborhood of NYC. Just got back from a holiday in Magic Natura in Benidorm. The restaurant had Domino Dancing and Always on my mind over the tannoy. What was REALLY weird though was they were both shortened. Second verses and bridge cut out.
