I stopped playing the blame game. it takes a certain personality to become a politician. just like it takes a certain kind to be a nurse, or policeman. a nurse say, is generally a caring person who wants to help others, a policeman is generally some macho testosterone tough guy,
and a politician generally likes power and money.

Democracy is a specious term because the proles get one vote every four or five years, which is meant to sate their democratic urges. Even then the candidate with the most votes is not guaranteed victory.
