In the last days I recognise some emails about Tickets for PSB@ROH which I THINK could be a money trap. After we have to hold this email open for user requests and alerts via the contact link (at the...
I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...

Thank you for the link leesmapman. I was already aware of them and found the last one does not include the first song they played (the Blur song Girls and Boys (PSB Remix)). For some reason it has been omitted from the youtube recording hence why I asked if anyone has their own recording.
Apologies if this that been discussed before but can anyone confirm if these two singles, DJ Culture and Was It Worth It?, were recorded as part of the Behaviour sessions in 1990 or especially for the Discography compilation the following year?
They would both have been fantastic additions to...

Thank you, 102db, this is really interesting. It wasn't exactly the speech synthesis itself I was surprised by, so much as the fact they made it sound like a record (rather than a robot) "talking". I guess it was just about trying different things until it sounded right, probably all the things...
New documentary coming out next month about the songwriter Allee Willis who of course we all know from 'What have I...".
PSB are featured in the movie according to the blurb at the end of the trailer.

Saw this tonight as part of the BFI Flare festival; Allee's partner Prudence, who helped make the film, did a Q&A afterwards. It's a really moving and lovely tribute, and I learnt a lot about someone whose work has been pretty ubiquitous for decades. Neil and Chris are in it for about 30 seconds,...
In the true PSB spirit of celebrating negativity rather than positivity, what are Neil's worst lyics?
How about the tautological "Planes taking off to fly" from Hold On?

he doesn't have many bad lyrics...... I will say though I kinda cringe just a little when he does those little throwback lines he used in past songs where they were done better.
such as like firm Government in Kings cross and the later gunpoint has a firm voice in dictator
It's a great record. It is a pity that it will never be officially released.

Some of those demos seem to have the vocals from the album versions. Maybe those aren't original demos?
Maybe it's that when the live arrangements were being produced, they use the original studio vocals to save having to record guide vocals - effectively making them remixes at that point in the...
Saw this tonight on my way from work, the flyers are popping up everywhere.
Anyone know what it's about?

This mag has been kicking about for a while now. The first issue featured Chris on the cover, and goes for a few quid now.
It’s very much based on football casual terrace culture, mainly in the 80s, with the usually unmentioned undercurrent of hooliganism. The guy behind it’s obviously a PSB fan...
I ended up seeing the revival several times, and the production revealed itself as finely detailed and thought out, and the cast did great justice to the songs...
I wonder if some lucky buyers managed to obtain some souvenirs of the show...
''South London venue The Turbine Theatre,...

What a pity.
The venue did seem slightly out of place amongst the ultra rich and absent residents who (don’t) inhabit Battersea Power Station
I really enjoyed the production of C2H, and I think this venue, much like the Union Theatre, really added to the production.
One of the many things that I think elevates PSB's songwriting above their peers is their ability to craft the perfect middle eight, or in layman's terms, the bit of the song that usually occurs about 2/3 of the way through and isn't the verse, chorus or the bridge in between them.
DJ culture...

Leans? It positively hurtles! All pistons go, like the aforementioned party train. It pains me that I may never see Will-o done live, because it could open the heck out of a set. But yeah, it would need a suitable follow-on track so all that momentum doesn't go over a cliff.
It only has one verse really, and Neil's nonsense word is funny but doesn't go much beyond that. Chris's solo is weak. Yet, it certainly has a charm. Best kept as a demo or could it be brought out into the light of day with some touch-up?
Last post
Honestly, it is terrible.
Well honestly, I love it. It’d make a great track if revisited and fleshed out, especially after hearing the Nathan Jay remix;
Try this fan mix for size
Ooh yes loving that! We just need to convince them to revisit it lol
I reckon there’ll be more UK dates plus they are yet to take Dreamworld to the far east or Australia.
I'm not convinced Dreamworld will ever get to Australia. Rumour has it (based on some comments from Stephen Morris) there was a Unity tour planned, but it feel through due to a...
When Pet Shop Boys reissued their first six albums in 2001, they revealed five “rough rules” they’d given themselves in order to determine what they would (and wouldn’t) include on the accompanying Further Listening discs. These were:
1. The tracks would have to be what they considered to be...

Greetings,
This is why Spotify/Apple music sucks and physical media is still the way to go.
I feel bad for newer PSB fans who have to search out these tracks now. It seemed like just standard stuff back in the day. I never thought for a moment that so many tracks would become so hard to find.

My wife bought me two delightful books "Booze and Vinyl" and "Booze and Vinyl 2" which pair listening parties of various albums to drinks and cocktails to be taken during those listens.
"Booze and Vinyl 2" contains a segment for "Please" with two very suitably "English" sounding cocktails and some...
Is This What We Want? is a 2025 album by various artists. It consists of silence, recorded in recording studios. It was released in protest at the potential impact of artificial technology on music. The message "The British government must not legalise music theft to benefit AI companies" is spelt...

Markus is right...lack of talent is neither her nor there with AI.
If you can’t do it without AI you lack talent.
its the future.
I don’t doubt that - exploitation, enshittification and the rise of the talentless is the apogee of our cultural devolution.
Wouldn't it be great to copy Madonna's latest album, top 50 remixes of her best tracks? We'd finally get gems like Young Offender Jam & Spoon remix available on streaming services.
What would the ultimate playlist be like?

I'd really like to have this version on CD:
Young Offender (Remix No 2)
I've always preferred that remix to the Trip-O-Matic one.
Spurred by a comment by our illustrious Drico, I wondered about what makes a "hardcore" fan of a band.
The AI generated definition (below) is such that either any one of us could call ourselves that of the PSB's, or not, if you take that definition to its extremities.
EDIT: just for clarity I used...

I do not know what to call myself.
Usually I don't like their videos; I find them wooden and boring except for a few notable ones for me, including Heart, Monkey Business, Being Boring, Together (very energetic) and On Social Media. If they never released a video again, I would never regret it. I...
I'm not sure if this has been asked before but does anybody have a list of the songs played in the hour or so before PSB go on stage on the Super tour? I was at Nottingham and there was one track which was really good. It had a military sounding chant something like 1, 2...3, 4!! in it. I thought...

I was listening to my iPod earlier & had it on random (as you do etc). Then this came on & I've not heard it for a while, but I have to say it's really good! It's a shame it's never had a 'proper' release, just like their remixes of "Kids" by MGMT, which were also quite good IIRC.

Not really a surprise that most of those are from the imperial phase. Nothing from the past 24 years.
For Neil, Domino Dancing wasn't part of Imperial Phase.
Well Domino dancing was part of the Imperial Phase... until Neil realised it didn't chart high enough for him. So it's Schrödinger's 7''......
Slate just posted part 1 of a podcast about Madonna's imperial phase, which contains a nice, lengthy nod to Neil's other gift to the pop universe (starting at 10:48):

Just wondering really. With all the various fonts we've had over the releases, doe anybody have a favourite?
Singlewise for me is Suburbia, black, bold and sharp, almost like a tabloid headline.
Albumwise, Behavoiur. Yes, all because of the full-stop!

Technically, isn't it typefaces we're discussing rather than fonts?
Ooh. Thank you. TIL there's a difference between font and typeface.
Now it makes sense why Mark Farrow was talking about the Somewhere lettering being "a modern update to an American college typeface called Princeton" (yeah,...
An expanded edition of Nonetheless is clear and the fifth single too but we don't know anything about it. I don’t think the Mini is Chris’s actual new car, he seems to get loaned cars arranged by Jason Barlow, the editor-at-large of Top Gear Magazine when he goes to Blackpool - the deal appears to be that he does a social media post. He’s done it before with a Jaguar F-Type and an electric Audi.
Just seen a trailer for this and it had the 12”mix of Always On My Mind featured heavily. I wonder if this is the tv programme that Angela spoke about last year?
I came across this again on youtube,I posted it years ago here, thought I'd post it again,

Very similar but it happens a lot for them to hear a song and duplicate a part to create another one. It happens all the time i guess in the music industry.
I’m sure Neil and Chris haven’t yet even begun thinking about their next album, but I’m clearly already winding down for Christmas and I can’t help wondering where they’ll turn next. We know for sure that there’s no Electric-style fast-follower album ready to go - Neil ruled out as much at the...

The craziest thing is that An open mind sounds not only album material, but as SINGLE material. It's contemporary to the current music scene in the same way Very was back in 1993. It could have been the lead single, instead it's packed away on a b-side while the excruciating wedding in Berlin is...

Boy Harsher sounds nice and cool at first, but then when you realize it's just an eternal loop of music with just the vocals and some synth lines on top, it loses its charm for me. Also the fem voices and the early fade out as a lazy and not creative way of ending it are missed points for me.

I’ve seen this 12” pop up online a few times now and not sure if it’s a genuine official 1984 release? It’s on ZYX records which produced all those terrible remixes in ‘86 and ‘88. The cover says Extended Mix 5.00 but isn’t the original 1984 extended mix nearly 8 mins in length? It has ‘Pet Shop...

Can anyone help me identify a track with a very similar hook to ‘Closer to Heaven’?
It dates from 1984 or before and was on a tape made by a New York pal of the manager whose London bar I worked in with what was being played in NY clubs at the time.
What’s the first Pet Shop Boys music you’ve played or going to play this year?
